Imaginary Authors
Soft Lawn
Claude LeCoq published his first book, The Soft Lawn, in 1916, while he was still a student at Princeton University. This controversial portrait of upper-class New England teenage rebellion chronicles the coming of age of Hampton Perry, a charming college tennis champion who, after years of having it all on a silver platter, ends up giving it all back.
A little-known fact about the author: Claude LeCoq only wore striped suits, known at that time as the poor man's wardrobe, and it was his gallant presence at high society dinners and prestigious sporting events that made the fabric became popular among the wealthy people of the 1920s.
